About the role

This position offers the opportunity to lead high-impact research that improves residency selection processes. It involves serving as a primary scientific liaison with internal teams, external vendors, and advisory committees, while mentoring junior staff in scholarly writing and analytical reasoning.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, execution, and scientific direction of research portfolios focused on residency selection and applicant behavior.
• Identify research questions and define analytic strategies, developing conceptual frameworks and statistical models to evaluate tool performance.
• Serve as a scientific liaison with internal teams, external vendors, and advisory committees to resolve complex technical issues.
• Oversee evidence synthesis and knowledge integration, guiding literature reviews and validity frameworks.
• Lead research governance and compliance processes, including IRB compliance, DUAs, and NDAs.
• Lead dissemination of findings through manuscripts, technical briefs, and presentations.
• Provide strategic direction for data architecture, management processes, and governance frameworks.
• Lead complex data extraction, integration, and transformation from repositories such as data warehouses and marts.
• Serve as primary data liaison with internal teams and external partners to align on data formats and security.
• Oversee operational and research data exchanges, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and compliance.
• Lead quality assurance, validation, and risk mitigation processes for incoming and outgoing data.
• Develop reproducible analytical workflows, including dataset production, documentation standards, and code versioning.
• Perform data validation for data displayed in products or tools to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Conduct quality assurance checks of data to identify red flags and coordinate with colleagues to resolve issues.
• Clean data, document syntax, and analyze external analytic data sources in collaboration with research partners.
• Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to answer questions about residency selection or assessments.
• Synthesize findings for leadership and external audiences, preparing executive-ready summaries and technical reports.
• Lead the definition of project scope, research objectives, and deliverables.
• Facilitate meetings, take notes, and follow up on action items to drive decision-making discussions.
• Design and oversee creation of compelling data visualizations and evidence-driven narratives.
• Develop high-quality presentations, reports, and leadership materials for briefings and external stakeholders.
• Serve as lead on manuscripts, conference submissions, and scholarly products.
• Cultivate and steward high-level collaborations across clusters aligning research priorities with enterprise strategy.
• Establish relationships with constituents and colleagues in external organizations to co-create high-impact products.
• Represent the research portfolio in cross-organizational discussions, providing thought leadership and ensuring stakeholder alignment.

Requirements

• Minimum Education: Master’s degree in Psychology or related field.
• Preferred Education: Master’s degree in industrial-organizational psychology, educational measurement, economics, data science, or related fields.
• 8-10 years of related work experience.
• 1-3 years of supervisory experience.
• Hands-on research experience in selection, admissions, educational measurement, or related field.
• Demonstrated track record of producing high-quality applied research, including technical reports and peer-reviewed publications.
• Experience in managing complex research projects, including budgeting, planning, and execution.
• Proficiency in statistical tools, research software, and other relevant technologies.
• Experience in aligning research objectives with organizational goals and contributing to long-term strategic planning.
• Experience in a managerial role, such as managing research teams, overseeing projects, and providing mentorship.
• Expert-level knowledge of personnel selection science, validation frameworks, and evidence-based assessment design.
• Deep expertise in research design, statistics, psychometrics, and measurement theory.
• Ability to select, justify, and operationalize methodological approaches for large-scale, complex research initiatives.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong proficiency in analytical and computing environments, including R, Python, SQL, and reproducible research workflows.
• Intermediate skill in Excel for data analysis, formulas, and report design.
• Fluency with productivity, collaboration, and visualization environments such as Microsoft 365, data platforms, and version control.

Pay

$140,250.00-$165,000.00/year
