Lead Data Scientist
About the role
Lead Data Scientist for St. Louis, MO to lead agronomic data science research projects for development & deployment of crop placement models; design & prototype agronomic models; define research problems & develop strategic planning for agronomic data science projects; mentor & provide feedback to junior team members on model development and validation; construct data-driven evaluation frameworks & communicate modeling results to technical and non-technical stakeholders; lead the design & statistical analysis of field trial protocols.
Responsibilities
- Design & prototype agronomic models
- Define research problems & develop strategic planning for agronomic data science projects
- Mentor & provide feedback to junior team members on model development and validation
- Create & deploy CI/CD pipelines with Artifactory
- Perform code documentation, unit testing & code modularization
- Use GitLab to track code history & perform code review
- Design & analyze agronomic trial data, including experimental protocols and hypothesis testing
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Data Science, Customer Analytics or closely related quantitative field
- 5 years professional agronomic industry experience developing data collection pipelines for agronomic & environmental datasets using SQL, PySpark and Google BigQuery
- Perform exploratory data analysis of agronomic data to evaluate data quality & data trends using Matplotlib and Seaborn
- Build machine learning & deep learning models in Python for agronomic predictions, using Keras, Tensorflow, Sklearn and XGboost
- Lead the design & statistical analysis of field trial protocols
Qualifications
- Experience with data-driven evaluation frameworks
- Ability to communicate modeling results to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Knowledge of agronomic trial data analysis

Pay
Salary Range: Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $140,000.00 to $175,000.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).
Schedule
Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week from home office location within reasonable commuting distance of St. Louis, MO.
