Lead Data Engineer (Enterprise Platforms Technology)

As a Lead Data Engineer in Enterprise Platforms Technology (EPTech), you’ll help drive a major transformation by building and pioneering data solutions that empower millions of Americans toward financial empowerment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support full-stack technical solutions
• Work alongside developers experienced in machine learning, distributed microservices, and full-stack systems
• Leverage programming languages such as Java, Scala, Python and open-source RDBMS/NoSQL databases
• Use cloud-based data warehousing services including Redshift and Snowflake
• Stay current with tech trends, experiment with new technologies, participate in internal and external tech communities, and mentor other engineers
• Partner with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that power customer experiences
• Write unit tests and conduct code reviews to ensure rigorous design, elegant coding, and performance tuning

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• At least 4 years of application development experience (internship experience does not apply)
• At least 2 years of experience with big data technologies
• At least 1 year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

Preferred Qualifications

• 7+ years of application development experience including Python, SQL, Scala, or Java
• 4+ years of experience with a public cloud (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
• 4+ years of experience with distributed data/computing tools (MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark, Gurobi, MySQL)
• 4+ years of experience working on real-time data and streaming applications
• 4+ years of experience with NoSQL implementation (MongoDB, Cassandra)
• 4+ years of data warehousing experience (Redshift or Snowflake)
• 4+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux including basic commands and shell scripting
• 2+ years of experience with Agile engineering practices

Pay

• McLean, VA: $197,300 – $225,100 per year
• Richmond, VA: $179,400 – $204,700 per year
• Other locations: pay range determined by location and detailed in the candidate’s offer letter
• Eligible for performance-based incentive compensation (cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives)
