Skills
- Architecture of lakehouse: storage, table format, zoning (bronze/silver/gold), batch and streaming
- Selection of stack with justification of trade-offs
- Technical roadmap ownership
- Inclusion of existing assets in target schema (transactional analytics as seed, CDC with balances)
- Engineering standards: code review, data model, conventions, testing, documentation
- Hiring, onboarding, and mentoring team
- Working with stakeholders: business, analytics, IT/security, owners of sources
- Control of reliability, SLA, and cost of platform
Experience
- 6+ years in data engineering, 2+ years as a lead/architect
- Designed and implemented DWH/lakehouse from scratch (not just maintaining others)
- Hands-on experience with at least one distributed processing engine (Spark / Flink / Trino) and understanding when to apply which
- Experience with streaming: Kafka + Flink or Spark Structured Streaming, understanding CDC
- Understanding of table formats Iceberg / Delta / Hudi and their differences
- Cloud (AWS / Azure / GCP) at design level, IaC (Terraform)
- Data modeling (dimensional / Data Vault) and data governance
- Experience embedding existing systems (OLTP sources, ready analytics) into new platforms
