About The Role
We are seeking a Lead Data Engineer to provide technical leadership for enterprise data modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will define migration strategies, guide engineering teams, and drive the transformation of legacy ETL ecosystems into scalable modern data platforms.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end modernization and migration of enterprise data workflows.
- Define technical architecture and migration strategies for Informatica-to-Python ETL transformations.
- Drive the design and implementation of scalable data processing solutions using Python, SQL, and Java Spring Batch.
- Evaluate and implement AI-powered accelerators, Generative AI capabilities, and Copilot-based productivity improvements.
- Provide technical leadership across data engineering, integration, and modernization workstreams.
- Conduct architecture reviews, solution assessments, and optimization initiatives.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, and technology leadership to align solutions with business objectives.
- Mentor engineering teams and establish development standards and best practices.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering and data modernization.
- Deep expertise in Informatica, Python ETL, and SQL.
- Strong experience with Java Spring Batch and enterprise batch processing.
- Expertise in AWS cloud technologies and modern data architectures.
- Experience leading large-scale ETL migration and transformation programs.
- Strong understanding of Generative AI, GitHub Copilot, and AI-assisted engineering approaches.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Financial Services industry experience.
- Experience defining enterprise data modernization roadmaps and engineering standards.

Pay
The base compensation range for this role in Smithfield, RI is $103,330 to $128,656 per year. This role may also be eligible for other compensation including variable compensation, bonus, or commission. Full-time regular employees are eligible for paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), and other benefits.
