Lead, Data Architect
What you’ll do
- Define and maintain the enterprise data architecture vision, roadmap, and standards
- Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models across domains
- Establish data integration, storage, and access patterns (data lakes, warehouses, lakehouse)
- Align data architecture with enterprise architecture and business strategies
- Lead and own MDM (Master data Management) enabled by Stibo Systems Platform
- Establish and enforce data governance frameworks, policies, and standards
- Partner with data stewards to improve data quality, lineage, and metadata management
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA)
- Lead the newly established DMO (Data Management Office)
- Architect modern data platforms (cloud-first preferred: Azure, AWS, Databricks, Stibo Sistems)
- Lead design of batch and real-time data pipelines (ETL/ELT, streaming)
- Evaluate and select data tools, platforms, and technologies
- Optimize performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency
- Design enterprise integration patterns (APIs, messaging, event-driven architectures)
- Ensure seamless data exchange between applications, SaaS, and legacy systems
- Define canonical data models and data domains
- Provide technical leadership to data engineers, modelers, and architects
- Partner with business stakeholders, product teams, and IT leadership
- Mentor junior architects and promote data-driven culture
- Enable self-service analytics, BI, and advanced analytics capabilities
- Support AI/ML initiatives through well-architected data pipelines and feature stores
- Ensure data is accessible, trustworthy, and usable
Location & Travel Expectations
- This role may be based out of the Scout Motors corporate headquarters in Charlotte, NC.
- This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- 12+ years of experience in data architecture, engineering, or related roles
- 5+ years designing enterprise-scale data solutions
- Deep expertise in:
- Data modeling (dimensional, normalized, Data Vault)
- Data warehousing and lakehouse architectures
- ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Informatica, or similar)
- Master data Management
- Strategic thinking and roadmap development
- Strong communication and stakeholder management
- Systems thinking and problem-solving
- Ability to balance governance with agility
- Leadership and mentoring capability

- Data quality and accessibility improvements
- Successful implementation of modern data platform(s)
- Reduced data redundancy and improved consistency

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
