Responsibilities

  • Oversee Customer Registration Representatives and ensure accurate and timely patient registration.
  • Conduct financial triage and process patient’s medical and/or dental insurance information.
  • Maintain accurate patient demographics and update data in patient’s chart and computer.
  • Screen patients for insurance information and eligibility for state, County, or private-funded programs.
  • Enter accurate demographic information on every encounter.
  • Handle patient information with respect and confidentiality.
  • Aid patients in filling out paperwork, if needed.
  • Maintain petty cash box and balance cash transactions.
  • Enter patient payments into electronic practice management system and print receipts.
  • Handle patient complaints or concerns professionally and refer to supervisor or clinical department leads when necessary.
  • Support Center’s mission of providing quality care and ensuring patient satisfaction.
  • Ensure verification process is completed at least one day before appointments, except for Medi-Cal and Medi-Cal managed care eligible patients on the first of the month.
  • Handle pcp transfers for patients needing them.
  • Perform miscellaneous assignments as directed by Manager.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • At least one (2+) years of medical clerical experience in the front office.
  • Knowledge and understanding of various medical and dental insurance requirements.
  • Ability to speak and read English and Spanish.
  • Experience using computers, multi-button telephones, and simple business machines.
  • Excellent people/customer relations and telephone communication skills.
