Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Production Oversight
- Mentor and train Core Cutting Technicians on proper equipment setup, operation, quality inspection, and safety procedures.
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert for complex core cutting configurations and equipment optimization.
- Core Cutting & Advanced Equipment Operation
- Direct and execute the complex setup and programming of automated core cutting and step-lap equipment.
- Execute cutting programs for lamination lengths, angles, and configurations based on work instructions.
- Proactively monitor and analyze machine performance, implementing immediate and long-term adjustments to maintain consistent and superior product quality.
- Quality Assurance & Auditing
- Perform comprehensive, final assessments of incoming CRGO material for correct grade, thickness, coating condition, and surface integrity prior to processing.
- Lead the inspection process, auditing laminations for dimensional accuracy, burr height, coating condition, and defects performed by the team.
- Ensure rigorous conformance to all engineering specifications and work instructions, serving as the final point of escalation for quality issues.
- Accurately log and oversee the logging of production data, material traceability, and quality yields into the ERP or production tracking system.
- Material Handling
- Safely direct the handling of steel coils and laminations using overhead cranes and lifting equipment.
- Oversee the loading of coils into processing equipment and manage the output workflow of cut laminations.
- Equipment & Process Excellence
- Develop and perform complex preventive maintenance (PM) and routine equipment checks beyond basic requirements.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for major equipment or process issues to quickly restore stable operation and minimize downtime.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support equipment commissioning processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with company standards.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 5+ years of experience preferred in a precision manufacturing or industrial environment, with 3+ years specifically operating automated equipment or working in precision manufacturing environments.
- 2+ years of experience in a lead, senior, or mentoring role within a manufacturing setting, or demonstrated ability to train other Technicians and support equipment setup and process improvements.
- Demonstrated expert ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and work instructions.
- Advanced proficiency with precision measurement tools (calipers, gauges, etc.).
- Proven expertise in troubleshooting equipment or process issues.
- Ability and willingness to travel Internationally for training, equipment commissioning, or support activities, including extended travel during initial facility ramp-up.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Associate degree (AAS) in Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Direct experience in transformer manufacturing, motor manufacturing, electrical steel processing (CRGO), or similar industries.
- Experience with overhead cranes or lifting equipment.
- Work Environment: Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to moving equipment and heavy materials.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during the work shift.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs, with or without assistance.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks involving hand and arm motion.
- Ability to bend, reach, and work safely in the manufacturing environment using required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to follow all workplace safety requirements.
