About the role
As the Lead Cook you prepare food using standard recipes and production guidelines while adhering to food-safety, handling, and sanitation procedures. You safely operate knives and equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and broilers. You may supervise employees and delegate responsibilities. Duties vary by location based on client requirements and business needs.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and assign daily work activities to staff and supervise task completion.
- Train and guide staff on job duties, food-safety and sanitation procedures, and cooking methods.
- Cook and prepare food following production guidelines and standardized recipes.
- Set up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment.
- Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items.
- Safely use all food utensils, including knives.
- Operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers.
- Bake, roast, broil, steam, and use a variety of cooking methods on meats, vegetables, and other foods.
- Arrange, garnish, and portion food following established guidelines.
- Properly store food by following food-safety policies and procedures.
- Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils.
- Maintain excellent customer service with a positive attitude toward guests, customers, clients, and co-workers.
- Follow Aramark safety policies and procedures, including food safety and sanitation.
- Ensure security of company assets.
- Produce and maintain work schedules and may prepare production records.
Job duties may change or new ones may be assigned without formal notice to meet business commitments.
Requirements
- Previous supervisor experience in a related role preferred.
- Experience as a cook or in a related role required.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Proven knowledge of basic food-preparation principles, cooking methods, and food-safety regulations (proper handling, sanitation, and storage).
- Food-safety certification required.
- Basic math and counting skills.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
This role may require physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and/or extended walking and standing. Uniforms and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required.
Pay
Hourly rate: $20.00 to $26.00.
