About the role

The Lead Cook prepares food using standard recipes and production guidelines while following food safety, handling, and sanitation procedures. This role may supervise employees and delegate responsibilities, with duties varying by location based on client requirements and business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and assign daily work activities to staff and supervise task completion.
  • Train and guide staff on job duties, food safety, sanitation procedures, and cooking methods.
  • Cook and prepare food following production guidelines and standardized recipes.
  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and equipment.
  • Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items.
  • Safely use food utensils, including knives, and operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers.
  • Apply a variety of cooking methods (baking, roasting, broiling, steaming) to meats, vegetables, and other foods.
  • Arrange, garnish, and portion food following established guidelines.
  • Properly store food by following food safety policies and procedures.
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Maintain excellent customer service with a positive attitude toward guests, customers, clients, and co-workers.
  • Follow Aramark safety policies and procedures, including food safety and sanitation.
  • Ensure security of company assets.
  • Produce and maintain work schedules and may prepare production records.

Job duties may change or new ones may be assigned without formal notice to meet commitments.

Requirements

  • Previous supervisor experience in a related role preferred.
  • Experience as a cook or in a related role required.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Proven knowledge of food preparation principles, cooking methods, and food safety regulations (proper handling, sanitation, and storage).
  • Food safety certification required.
  • Basic math and counting skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

This role may have physical demands, including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, extended walking and standing, as well as requirements for uniforms and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Pay

Hourly rate: $17.00 to $21.00.
