About the role

The Lead Cook works on the Signature Dining team to prepare fresh, healthy, attractive, and delicious meals for residents. The role involves following recipes, maintaining food safety standards, keeping the kitchen clean, and supporting the Director of Signature Dining and Sous Chef.

Shift Lead

• Assist the Sous Chef with checking, maintaining, and documenting proper food temperatures throughout the shift according to local, state, and federal standards.
• Support the Director of Signature Dining and Sous Chef to ensure efficient meal preparation, service, and clean‑up.
• Maintain knowledge of OSHA and other regulatory guidelines to ensure compliance.
• Assist in training kitchen team members during a shift.
• When the Director or Sous Chef is absent, oversee and direct other food‑service team members on the assigned shift.

Food Preparation

• Follow production sheets to produce the correct amounts and items.
• Prepare foods according to recipes and Signature Dining standards, maintaining freshness and appropriate temperatures.
• Present foods attractively per standards.
• Store foods properly, covering, labeling, dating, and placing items in appropriate storage locations.
• Practice safe food‑handling techniques at all times.
• Complete meal production records accurately and promptly.

Kitchen Cleaning

• Clean and sanitize all work areas and equipment before and after each use.
• Maintain clean and sanitary kitchen surfaces—including floors, counters, sinks, cabinets, walk‑in freezers, and refrigerators—throughout the shift.
• Perform deep‑cleaning procedures according to the schedule and as assigned by the Director of Signature Dining.

Other Responsibilities

• Attend all required team‑member meetings and in‑service training sessions.
• Uphold Residents’ Rights as defined by state regulations and company policy.
• Support and uphold all other company policies and the service philosophy.
• Maintain reliable and predictable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years applicable food‑service experience.
• Previous experience in both hotel/restaurant and senior‑living settings preferred.
• Strong commitment to customer service and desire to exceed expectations.
• Ability to read, comprehend, write, and speak English to interpret menus, recipes, and communicate with residents, families, team members, and vendors.
• Meet all health‑related and food‑handling requirements of local and state regulatory agencies.
• Maintain CPR/First Aid credentials.
• Maintain current Food Handler credentials.
• Maintain annual continuing education credits.
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to prepare and understand techniques required to cook all menu items as instructed.
• Subject to pre‑employment screening including physical, drug and TB testing, and criminal background check.

Pay

$25.00 – $26.00 per hour.
