About the role

WSP is seeking a Lead Consultant, Electrical Engineer for its New York City, NY team. The role involves working on projects with the Properties & Buildings Team and contributing to a growing organization that addresses client objectives and solves their challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Work within multi-discipline project teams to develop drawings and specification documents for issuance to architects, contractors and building owners.
  • Coordinate design activities with other multi-discipline project team members.
  • Design of electric distribution systems.
  • Design of fire alarm systems.
  • Design of lighting and lighting control systems.
  • Scheduling and selecting of electrical components and equipment.
  • Perform electrical load, short circuit and voltage drop calculations.
  • Construction administration.
  • Involved from project inception to completion in the management of design and construction of electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Attend client and other stakeholder meetings.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
  • Supervise and mentor younger engineers.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of relevant post-education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for capital projects in power generation, transmission, and distribution at a utility, industrial, or commercial scale.
  • Engineer license required, preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of building electrical infrastructure design.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, energy codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Interest in innovative design, specifically in renewable energies and sustainable, high performing buildings.
  • Well-developed ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of electrical engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • New Construction and High Rise Building Design (Mix-use, Residential and Office).
  • PE License or LEED AP certification.
  • Knowledge of AGI32 and SKM.
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120).
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training.

Pay

Expected Salary (all locations): $92,800 - $165,440
