Job Summary: Provides leadership in reviewing, accurately assigning, and abstracting diagnostic and procedural codes to inpatient encounters using designated coding classification. Leads ongoing development of staff.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement standardized workflows for coding processes, ensuring efficiency and accuracy; handle complex accounts.
• Establish clear priorities and deadlines for coding assignments, considering regulatory requirements and hospital targets.
• Assigns the most appropriate diagnosis and procedures to reflect the utilization of resources during the patient encounter.
• Recognizes documentation clarification opportunities to ensure it supports all codes and designation assignments.
• Serves as a resource and mentor to Outpatient facility and Professional coding staff, offering guidance and support as needed; demonstrates expertise and proficiency in coding by actively participating in the coding process.
• Communicate coding-related documentation issues to relevant stakeholders for resolution.
