Lead CNC Maintenance Technician, Night Shift - Ditch Witch

Night shift, 11:00 PM-7:00 AM, Sunday-Thursday

Pay

Typical starting pay: $28.50/hr.-$32.00/hr., plus $2.50 shift differential

Responsibilities

• Oversee preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of manufacturing equipment including CNC controlled lathes, machining centers, presses, and welding robots at all Ditch Witch locations.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system problems on all types of manufacturing equipment, including:
  • Listening to, observing, and operating machines
  • Analyzing performance and diagnosing problems
  • Disassembling and reassembling equipment using hand and power tools
  • Identifying and repairing or replacing components
• Climb on, crawl under, and work inside machines; work at heights, in tight quarters, and in awkward positions.
• Use diagnostic equipment including multi-meters, oscilloscopes, chart recorders, precision measuring devices, and other test instruments.
• Diagnose and repair CNC and PC-based computer control systems and closed loop servo systems.
• Read electrical schematics, technical manuals, and written instructions.
• Service and maintain air conditioners and refrigeration units on manufacturing equipment.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance, including lubrication.
• Increase the overall skill level of the department by learning new skills and training others.
• Use computers (SAP) to locate parts and process work notifications.
• Assist Purchasing Specialist with Purchase Orders.
• Perform geometric alignments on machine tools.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent.
• 5 years' experience working in an industrial environment, repairing and maintaining machine tools.
• Formal electrical, electronic, and mechanical training and/or relevant experience.
• Meet expectations for safety, productivity, attendance, and quality of work.
• Able to handle multiple and/or complex tasks effectively.
• Work well with others, including leading small groups to complete tasks.
• Appropriate reading, clerical, and computer skills, with knowledge of SAP.
• Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision.

Work Environment

• Manufacturing plant conditions (indoors, with variable temperature and humidity, noise, and dirt).
• Physical hazards such as powered vehicles, bicycle and pedestrian traffic, powered machinery, live electrical circuits up to 480 volts, sharp objects, and moving machinery.
• Working with hazardous materials, including solvents, oils, grease, and coolant.
• During emergencies, shifts of up to 12 hours.
• Changing workloads, overtime, and priorities (at times with short notice).
• Some travel (air and highway) to off-site training schools.
• Close cooperation with managers and operators.

Essential Physical Functions

• Regularly lift and position parts weighing up to 25 pounds, occasionally over 50 pounds.
• Regularly handle items weighing up to 60 pounds from floor to knuckle.
• Regularly pull or push items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Regularly lift items weighing up to 35 pounds from knuckle to shoulder.
• Regularly lift items weighing up to 25 pounds from shoulder to overhead.
• Frequent walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
• Occasional sitting, twisting, elevated work, and continuous standing.
