Lead CMA - Certified Medication Assistant - FT - Days

About the role

The Lead Medication Assistant at GSS SD Miller Prairie Ctr is responsible for organizing and assigning resident assistants to ensure residents' plans of care are carried out and documented as directed. This position requires knowledge of and delivery of appropriate age-related care related to the physical and psychological needs of adult and geriatric residents.

Responsibilities

• Delivers appropriate age-related care related to the physical and psychological needs of adult and geriatric residents per plans of care.
• Communicates with resident assistants to provide hands-on care to residents and assists with daily living activities.
• Assists with resident admission processes, orientation of new staff and students, and data collection on performance indicators.
• Performs tasks delegated by the supervising nurse and other managers in the household, including administering prescribed medications and maintaining the household environment.
• Provides assistance with basic health care needs such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support.
• Transfers, repositions, and walks residents using correct and appropriate transfer techniques and equipment, and provides range of motion and passive exercises.
• Assists residents with meals and snacks, provides water and supplements as appropriate, and documents outcomes related to resident care, medication administration, behavior, activity, and dietary.
• Communicates changing conditions, medication follow-up, and care-related concerns/responses to the charge nurse.
• Participates in wellness and recreational programs and encourages residents to participate.
• Aids providers and nursing staff members with procedures, if needed.
• Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens and gathers vital signs.
• Utilizes cost-effective measures while delivering quality care.
• Maintains a key role in the resident admission process, orientation of new staff and students, and data collection on performance indicators.

Requirements

• High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age of 18 preferred.
• Six months experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year.
• A minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required annually based on state requirements.
• Maintains all department specific required certifications.

Qualifications

Pay

$21.00 - $31.50 per hour, with a $7,500 sign-on bonus eligible.

Schedule

Full time, 40.00 weekly hours, 12 Hours - Day Shifts.
