Lead Clinical Dialysis Tech - UPMC Shadyside/St. Margaret

About the role

Oversee and coordinate all technical operations for the department involving the preparation, operation and maintenance of equipment used for Hemodialysis/CRRT.

Responsibilities

• Keep/maintain targeted flow of monthly machine culture/endotoxin sendoff
• Follow up with samples reported out of range-recollection follow up
• Maintain sample results within Excel file
• Maintain communication/throughput with biomed related to Machine repairs and delays
• Present, via TEAMS, machine culture/endotoxin results during bimonthly Dialysis quality meeting
• Provide monthly review/audit of all machine log sheets with report out (missing data or instances of noncompliance with established departmental policy and procedures)
• Assist with orientation of new staff
• Conduct annual and as needed competency training of all technical team members
• Basic Functional understanding of Microsoft applications
• Maintain CCHT or equivalent certification required
• Maintain inventory of specialty dialysis supplies via ePRO procurement system
• Maintain monthly QI metrics for dialysis technical team compliance

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Associate or baccalaureate degree preferred. Ability to work with technical equipment and learn through on-the-job training the function and monitoring of equipment used for dialysis and water treatment. Minimum of 4 years dialysis technician experience required.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

Dialysis Technician certification required. Patient Care Technician certification preferred. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. Maryland employees only: Maryland CNA-DT, Certified Nursing Assistant Dialysis Tech, license required through the Maryland Board of Nursing. Within 18 months of the CNA-DT issue date, must complete the National Certification exam for the CCHT (Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician) certification. - ARRT Certificate - Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - Certified Hemodialysis Technician - Act 34
