Lead Cleaner- 1st Shift

Responsible for coordinating, scheduling and supervising the activities of the building/facility cleaning staff and ensuring that the cleaners keep offices, hallways, stairs, and other areas within the building in clean and orderly condition by performing basic cleaning duties. May also supervise the performance of the clean-up and basic maintenance of the surrounding grounds and premises.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, schedule and assign the cleaning staff in the daily interior cleaning of the building, which includes:
    • Emptying waste receptacles, debris and trash removal
    • Vacuuming/shampooing floors and carpets
    • Dusting and cleaning furniture
    • Cleaning and restocking restrooms
    • Washing walls, polishing, mopping floors
    • Cleaning up spills
    • Placing down mats/runners in inclement weather
    • Cleaning windows and window coverings
  • Assign tasks and inspect building areas to ensure work has been done properly
  • Issue supplies and equipment, and conduct inventory of materials
  • May conduct or assist with:
    • Screening and hiring of job applicants
    • Training new and experienced employees
    • Conducting performance reviews
    • Making recommendations to management on promotions, transfers, or dismissals
  • Prepare and present reports concerning:
    • Occupancy of rooms
    • Hours worked
    • Staff assignments
    • Tasks/duties performed
    • Department expenses
  • Supervise and assist with exterior building and premises cleaning, including:
    • Snow removal
    • Basic maintenance of exterior walls, windows, parking lots, walkways, gardens, lawns, pools/spas, curbs, gutters, and exterior hallways/stairwells
  • Assign staff to assist with minor maintenance and repair work, including:
    • Painting
    • Replacement of light bulbs and fixtures (interior and exterior)
    • Replacement of windows
    • Moving furniture and equipment
    • Repairing doors and gates
    • Minor landscaping and related upkeep
    • Simple plumbing and fixture repairs/replacements
  • Supervise or perform other assigned duties, including:
    • Gardening and lawn care
    • Cleaning/maintaining outdoor furnishings
    • Assisting with inventory control and supply ordering
    • Snow removal
    • Assisting with tenant moves
  • Promptly respond to and notify management of:
    • Spills and emergency situations
    • Need for major and minor building/facility repairs
    • Lights that are out or broken
    • Broken equipment and fixtures
    • Damaged structures
    • Ruptured pipes/plumbing
    • Problems with heating/cooling and ventilation
    • Any other observable safety issues/concerns
  • Ensure the proper and safe operation (including training) of cleaning equipment, snow removal equipment, tools, devices, and chemical/cleaning agents
  • Organize and maintain all Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for cleaning products, solvents, and materials
  • Ensure staff is trained on the Hazard Communication Program and utilizes appropriate safety gear (eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, aprons, etc.)
  • Dispose of cleaning agents and chemicals in an environmentally friendly way, in accordance with the SDS and governing bodies

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience, preferably at the supervisory level
  • Basic mechanical knowledge
  • Ability to follow and provide both oral and written instructions
  • Ability to follow through and carry out work orders and coordinate/schedule others
  • Ability to supervise and work collaboratively with others
  • Must be reliable, thorough, observant, very organized, flexible, and courteous
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite (MS Word and Excel) and Work Order System

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Regularly required to travel outside between properties in varying weather conditions.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stoop, stand, climb, and frequently lift a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment (pumps, tools, ladders)
  • Safely install rigging/lifting devices
  • Regularly crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine
  • Involves movement between departments, floors, and properties to facilitate work
  • Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you
  • Ability to read and understand information presented orally and in writing
  • Regularly utilize vision abilities, allowing reading of printed material, drawings, and schematics

Pay

The compensation for this position is $18.47 - $18.87 per hour. The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
