About the role
The Lead Classroom Teacher position at Foundations is responsible for implementing the school's philosophy through planned activities that address the holistic development of children.
Responsibilities
- Implement Foundations' philosophy by adhering to established policies.
- Meet regularly with teaching partners to plan and execute activities that meet the diverse needs of the children.
- Create and maintain schedules and routines to provide a structured environment for learning and play.
- Submit lesson plans two weeks in advance for review by the Head of School (HoS).
- Request and manage materials needed for projects, communicating with the HoS or designee when supplies are low.
- Observe children to evaluate their progress and document any developmental or emotional concerns.
- Convene with the HoS, parents, or other professionals if necessary to address observed issues.
- Maintain up-to-date records of each student's progress and growth.
- Develop and nurture positive relationships with both children and their families to support their overall development.
- Conduct individual parent-teacher conferences twice a year to discuss the child's progress.
- Assist with personal hygiene instruction, including toileting, hand-washing, and tooth-brushing.
- Operate with professionalism, punctuality, appropriate attire, and positive communication.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure the facility is clean, safe, and in good condition.
- Maintain a positive relationship with other programs sharing the facility and participate in daily worship.
- Participate in various events and meetings as requested by the HoS.
Requirements
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development.
- Have specialized training in the early childhood field.
- Pass a background check.
- Show a commitment to the urban community and engage in ongoing training relevant to serving in an urban setting.
- Show a love for the Lord Jesus Christ and a passion for Christian preschool education.
