Responsibilities
- Own and execute all civil engineering scope for Las Vegas projects, including site development, permitting support, surveying coordination, utilities, grading, and drainage.
- Serve as a hands-on technical lead responsible for end-to-end civil deliverables—from site investigation and design through construction support and closeout.
- Coordinate closely with survey, utility locating, tunneling, and construction teams to ensure safe underground work and prevent utility conflicts.
- Develop and maintain civil design standards, QA/QC processes, and best practices.
- Collaborate daily with construction, mechanical, electrical, and tunneling teams to resolve field issues and keep projects moving.
- Interface with local jurisdictions, permitting agencies, consultants, and contractors to support approvals and compliance.
- Provide technical guidance and informal mentorship to engineers and designers without direct people management responsibility.
- Support cross-site coordination with other Boring Company locations and contribute to company-wide standardization efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license – required (Nevada preferred; other states acceptable with ability to obtain NV PE).
- 10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience across design and field execution.
- Strong background in site development, grading, drainage, utilities, and surveying coordination.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and civil design workflows.
- Deep understanding of grading, drainage, utilities and land development principles.
Qualifications
- PE Licenses in additional states.
- Experience with subsurface, tunneling, or infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated ability to manage high-stakes, fast-moving projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and technical judgment.
- Hands-on approach and ability to transition seamlessly between field and office work.
Additional Requirements
- Position may require extended hours and weekend work.
- Ability to travel to project sites and other company locations as needed (up to 20%).
- Comfortable working outdoors and in or around confined spaces.
