Lead Civil Engineer

Relocation authorized: National - Single. This is a part-time telework position requiring at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project in Houston, TX, Chandler, AZ, or Reston, VA.

About the Role

In this role, you will plan, coordinate, and perform civil engineering tasks to produce designs and estimates for projects within the Manufacturing and Technology Business Unit. You will develop, evaluate, coordinate, or modify designs, drawings, specifications, and requisitions for earthworks, stormwater and drainage infrastructure, roads, paving, fences, and other civil works under the supervision of a senior Engineer or Engineering Group Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct independent civil engineering work requiring judgment in evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of civil engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria on medium-sized projects or assignments.
• Lead the design, development, modification, and evaluation of civil components and processes using Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards, Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs), Design Control Check Lists (DCCL), and Design Review Notices (DRNs).
• Review and approve key design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, change orders, and bid summaries for assigned projects.
• Originate and check complex civil engineering deliverables, such as drainage and road design calculations, specifications, and material requisitions.
• Develop conceptual designs for civil engineering projects or projects with specialized or unique requirements.
• Prepare or oversee the preparation of discipline estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget; support implementation and assist with performance reporting.
• Interpret new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data.
• Mentor civil engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development.
• Lead constructability reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in a relevant field and 8-10 years of relevant experience, or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

• Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of the area of specialization; resolves a wide range of issues creatively.

Pay

Salary range for Reston, VA: $123,400 - $178,500 annually. The final salary offered is determined by education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant.
