Lead Childcare Teacher

About the role

A Lead Childcare Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering a structured, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. This role involves implementing curriculum that supports children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth, while ensuring a safe and inclusive classroom setting. The Lead Teacher supervises and mentors assistant staff, manages daily classroom operations, and maintains open communication with families regarding children’s progress and needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Assistant Teacher in the day-to-day care of the children in the classroom.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment aligned with Georgia DECAL and Quality Rated standards.
• Support the implementation of an age-appropriate curriculum that promotes sensory exploration, early communication, and gross motor development.
• Observe and document developmental milestones and communicate regularly with families.
• Follow all licensing and program guidelines related to health, safety, and sanitation.
• Actively participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training required for Quality Rated compliance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• CDA, TCC, or Paraprofessional certificate Required
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Ability to Pass a Background Check
• Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
• Ability to meet all requirements under Georgia’s Bright from the Start and Quality Rated guidelines.
• Passion for early childhood education and the social-emotional well-being of young children.
• Reliable, team-oriented, and committed to continuous learning.
