Lead Certified CMMC Assessor (CCA) Consultant | Remote | 1 week Consulting Project

About the role

Serves as the overall lead and authoritative decision-maker for CMMC Level 2 assessments conducted under the C3PAO, ensuring adherence to the CMMC Assessment Process (CAP) and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage the full assessment lifecycle per CMMC Assessment Process (CAP).
  • Lead kickoff, evidence review, interviews, and scoring meetings.
  • Validate control implementation per NIST SP 800-171A assessment objectives.
  • Mentor, supervise, and assign tasks to other assessment team members.
  • Ensure conflict-of-interest compliance and impartiality.
  • Approve final report and POA&M validation for submission to the Cyber AB.

Required Skills / Education/ Certifications & Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of CMMC L2 practices and processes and deep familiarity with NIST SP 800-171A assessment objectives.
  • Proficiency with DFARS 252.204-7012/7020/7021.
  • Strong audit management, team leadership, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree (minimum); master's preferred.
  • 5 + years in cybersecurity GRC or DoD assessments, specifically focused on NIST SP 800-171/FISMA.
  • Certified CMMC Assessor (CCA) (Required).
  • CISSP, CISA, or CAP (Strongly Preferred).

Desired Skills

  • Background as an ISSO or ISS.
  • Demonstrated success with training assessors.
  • Executive communication and presentation capabilities.
