Lead CDI Specialist
About the role
The Revenue Cycle Lead, CDI serves as an expert resource for staff and assists supervisory staff in assigned area with workflow and day-to-day operations. This position supports organizational goals by identifying opportunities to partner with providers for documentation education and feedback.
Responsibilities
- Supports workflow and day-to-day operations
- Conducts training and mentoring sessions
- Aids employees with day-to-day questions, issues, or problems
- Escalates identified systemic issues to supervisor
- Manages assigned work queues
- Validates monthly reporting for staff, providers, and leadership
Requirements
- Strong working knowledge and experience in clinical record reviews, 3M encoder coding systems, DRG system, and Epic EHR system
- Expert level working knowledge of ICD-10 CM/PCS coding conventions and SOI/ROM
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office; Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Effective problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- Minimum three years' experience required as a CDI specialist
- Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Medical Graduate degree or Associate/Bachelor Degree in other clinical health profession
- Minimum of three years hands-on clinical experience either obtained through clinical experience in nursing (i.e. RN, BSN), medical school, respiratory therapy, physician's assistant, or residency or 5 years of inpatient acute care medical coding experience
- Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Clinical Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) certifications required
Skills
- Strong working knowledge of clinical record reviews, coding systems, and EHR systems
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Effective problem-solving skills
Benefits
The position is currently primarily remote. BSN, PA or medical graduate degree. Prior experience in CDI at a large academic medical center. Salary Range $91,195.93 to $138,605.53 Annual. The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills and qualifications. This position is not eligible for an annual incentive.
