Lead Catering Captain | Part-Time | Benchmark International Arena

Responsibilities

• Reviews Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to ensure all details, such as food and beverage, seating, special requests, etc., are met.
• Conducts pre-banquet meetings with staff to ensure appearance, uniform, and hygiene standards are being met; assigns stations and partners; and reviews banquet event orders.
• Checks room set-up prior to event and meets with Chefs to confirm quantities of food items and timing of food leaving the kitchen.
• Ensures proper handling of all equipment (i.e., tableware, flatware, and linen) and its proper storage after use.
• Regularly reviews the catering schedule for changes, the calendar of events, and special events.
• Handles client complaints and issues promptly, working with the event planning team to resolve any challenges.
• Aids in the overall effective management of Catering operations.
• Aids in the management of catered events from set-up to tear-down, including handling all communication with hourly staff, culinary staff, and guests.
• Ensures total compliance with all alcohol service policies.
• Makes reports any alcohol service or compliance issues to management immediately.
• Provides ongoing direction, supervision, and mentoring to hourly event staff.
• Maintains organization and cleanliness in all service areas and storage areas.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience in catering or banquets.
• Ability to work a variable work schedule (including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required), depending upon event and business requirements.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
• Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, management staff, and guests in a clear, business-like, and respectful manner that focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative work environment.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness in all service areas and storage areas.
