About the Role

As a Lead Carpenter, you are the bridge between design and reality, setting the standard for craft and crew leadership on every jobsite. You will run high-end residential remodeling projects with the backing of a highly disciplined, fully systematized operation that does not run out of the owner's head. This is your chance to showcase your master-level carpentry skills while growing directly toward a Superintendent role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead framing and finish crews through complex residential remodeling phases to ensure projects stay strictly on schedule and budget.
  • Execute master-level carpentry tasks, including unequal hip and valley roof framing, finished staircases, and custom cabinetry installations.
  • Manage the jobsite seamlessly in the Superintendent's absence, coordinating trade partners and suppliers while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Communicate warmly and transparently with discerning homeowners, keeping them clearly informed of daily progress and upcoming schedules.
  • Build accurate material order packages and utilize the JobTread PM system to manage purchase orders and receiving workflows efficiently.
  • Provide direct, respectful mentorship to carpenters and apprentices, building a highly skilled and motivated field crew.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in residential framing, finish carpentry, layout, and staircase construction.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and build accurately from architectural plans, specifications, and structural drawings.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with a proven track record of coordinating small crews or trades.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and safely navigate active, physical construction environments in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical to obtain a Medical Examiner's Certificate.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of related residential carpentry experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Deep familiarity with historic New England home construction techniques, hidden structural conditions, and local building codes.

Pay

Competitive hourly rate of $30.00 to $40.00 per hour based on experience.

Schedule

Full-Time, onsite in West Lebanon, New Hampshire with travel up to 20% outside 30 miles.
