Lead Carpenter
What You'll Do
- Assist with pickup framing, rough framing, finish carpentry, site protection, etc. as needed
- Manage material deliveries, handling, storage, and placement
- Assist the superintendent with building layout and dimensional control
- Field verify shop drawings as directed by the superintendent and project engineers
- Work and plan with subcontractors to ensure the project is ready for them to begin work each day
- Run small projects as a working lead; coordinate and direct crew and subs to maximize productivity
- Provide mentoring and coaching to fellow carpenters and laborers
- Maintain job site security and safety (ensure safety of all people, tools, and materials)
- Identify and report unsafe practices to the superintendent
- Assist the superintendent with creation of the short-interval schedule and be responsible for its execution
- Affirm accurate documentation across all field systems
- Maintain effective, respectful communication at all times with field crew, subs, clients, partners, and team
- Help plan and communicate site production expectations with crew daily; participate in quality control
What You Need to Succeed
- 5+ years of high-end residential carpentry experience
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications
- Ability to line out crew and subcontractors and maintain Dowbuilt quality standards
- Working knowledge of layout and install of wall framing, floors and roof systems, stairs, windows, and doors
- Completion or acquisition of appropriate safety training commensurate with the position and location (ongoing safety training provided)
- Team player and positive attitude
- Technical and working knowledge of building methods and construction practice; continual learning and skill development
- Ability to manage stress and maintain composure in challenging situations
- Ability to anticipate and troubleshoot problems
- Ability to follow direction and perform work as designated
- Motivation, dependability, and trustworthiness
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen
- U.S. work authorization
