Position Summary

The Lead, Crew Population Health & Disease Prevention is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of fleet-wide population health initiatives focused on chronic disease prevention, health promotion, wellness, and preventive care strategies. This role is dedicated to optimizing crew health outcomes, reducing health-related risks, and supporting safe, sustainable maritime operations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Establish program goals, key performance indicators (KPIs), and outcome measures to assess effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.

  • Monitor population health trends and evaluate program performance through data collection, analytics, and reporting.

  • Provide quarterly population health reports, insights, and recommendations to executive leadership.

  • Identify crew members at elevated risk for medical debarkation and ensure timely escalation and coordination with Medical Operations and Risk Management teams.

  • Develop, maintain, and regularly update standard operating procedures (SOPs), guidelines, and workflows related to population health and disease prevention programs.

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the wellness nursing team, ensuring consistent delivery of care coordination services and program compliance.

  • Foster collaboration between shipboard and shoreside clinical teams to support continuity of care and optimal health outcomes.

  • Partner with stakeholders across Clinical Operations, Medical Operations, Risk Management, Human Resources, Communications, Public Health, and other departments to ensure alignment and effective execution of health initiatives.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary case review discussions involving active medical, complex, or litigated cases.

  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement in population health and disease prevention programs.

  • Ensure all programs and practices comply with company policies, applicable healthcare regulations, and industry standards.

  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of Protected Health Information (PHI).

  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications, Knowledge And Skills

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in case management, population health, wellness, disease management, occupational health, or a related clinical field.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of leadership or people management experience.

  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing wellness, preventive health, or chronic disease management programs.

  • Strong clinical judgment with the ability to assess complex medical situations and determine appropriate interventions.

  • Experience analyzing healthcare data, developing clinical metrics, and evaluating program outcomes.

  • Strong knowledge of preventive health, chronic disease management, health promotion, and population health principles.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Case Management (CCM), Population Health, Public Health, Occupational Health, or Wellness Coaching.

  • Experience supporting maritime, travel, occupational, or international workforce populations.

  • Bilingual or multilingual capabilities; proficiency in a second language is strongly preferred.

  • Experience managing remote or globally distributed healthcare teams.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, communicate, write, review documentation, analyze data, and operate a computer and other office equipment.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively and assess information in a fast-paced business environment.

  • Occasionally required to walk on docks, board vessels, and ascend or descend stairs and gangways.

  • Domestic and international travel may be required.

  • Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Schedule

Regular business hours: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time Based at the Miami Headquarters office. Additional hours may be required to support operational needs across global time zones.
