Essential Responsibilities
- Aid in supervising cabin counselors and conducting emergency procedure drills
- Provide guidance to counselors on procedures, issues, and program needs
- Inspect cabins after each session and assist in their preparation
- Participate in planning and presenting camp orientation sessions as needed
- Review and suggest improvements to related program policies and manuals
- Welcoming, settling, and ensuring the safety of campers during each session
- Encouraging campers to maintain personal hygiene, appropriate attire, and sun/insect protection
- Modeling and encouraging respect at all times
- Noting and addressing announcements
- Assisting in teaching activities and ensuring campers get adequate rest
- Leading cabin groups through dining hall procedures, cabin cleanliness, meal cookouts, overnight camp outs, group activities, and nightly devotions
- Serving as spotters at the lakefront as needed
- Planning activities for the cabin group on rainy days if not otherwise programmed
- Checking out the cabin group on each closing day
- Sanitizing showers and bathrooms daily and dorm areas after each session
- Completing daily reports and sharing concerns with the Program Director or local leaders
Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent
- Previous experience working with children preferred
- Basic computer skills required
