About the role

GE Aerospace is a world-leading provider of jet engines, components, and integrated systems for commercial and military aircraft. We advance aviation technology with a relentless focus on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC), partnering with suppliers and internal teams to enable reliable delivery and strong customer outcomes.

This role is based in Evendale, Ohio within the Purchasing / Buying-Procurement organization. The position supports day-to-day procurement execution for a defined set of goods, partnering closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders (planning, engineering, quality, operations, and finance) to ensure purchase orders are placed, executed, and maintained accurately in enterprise systems.

The Lead Buying/Procurement Specialist manages the end-to-end buying process for an assigned portfolio of goods. This includes applying sourcing policies, acting as the interface between suppliers and internal teams on specifications and budgets, and driving purchase order execution through to delivery. The role requires strong supplier relationship management, effective issue resolution, and disciplined ERP/transactional accuracy. This position operates with some autonomy under established functional practices and policies, using judgment to address more complex day-to-day issues and to propose solutions when challenges fall outside standard parameters.

Responsibilities

  • Purchase Order Execution: Place purchase orders (POs), confirm supplier acceptance, and manage PO execution through delivery.
  • PO Follow-Up & Schedule Management: Track order status, manage problems and schedule changes, and drive timely resolution to protect delivery commitments.

  • Policy & Process Application: Apply sourcing policies and procurement best practices while supporting alignment to specifications, budgets, and business requirements.
  • Issue Resolution & Decision Support: Use analytical thinking and technical experience to prioritize information, evaluate options, and propose solutions for more complicated day-to-day issues.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Interface with internal stakeholders to align on requirements, resolve constraints, and maintain clear communication on changes and risks.
  • Coaching & Team Support: Act as a resource for less experienced colleagues; explain information clearly, support consensus-building, and may lead small projects with low risk and modest resource needs.
