About the role

The Lead BI Engineer is a technical leadership role responsible for defining and governing the organization's business intelligence (BI) platform and the data and analytics architecture that supports it. This role drives innovation in BI and analytics capabilities, ensures alignment with enterprise data and analytics strategy, and leads initiatives that enhance data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Defines and establishes enterprise-wide BI architecture, standards, and best practices.
• Oversees BI platform performance, ensuring reliability, scalability, security, and compliance.
• Leads the development, implementation, and ongoing support of scalable data pipelines and data acquisition approaches.
• Evaluates emerging technologies, tools, and trends, and recommends adoption to improve BI capabilities.
• Collaborates closely with enterprise architecture, engineering, and business teams to deliver integrated data solutions.
• Influences and contributes to enterprise data strategy, governance frameworks, and policies.
• Provides leadership, mentoring, and guidance to Data and Analytics team members, fostering innovation and professional growth.
• Ensures data and analytics initiatives support organizational goals and deliver measurable business value.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

• Deep expertise in BI architecture, data modeling, and enterprise data strategy.
• Expert-level proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Experience with modern cloud data platforms; Snowflake experience preferred.
• Demonstrated expertise in architecting, implementing, and maintaining scalable data integrations with Salesforce ecosystems.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
• Proven ability to drive innovation and implement modern BI solutions aligned with business goals.
• Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills.

Education, Training & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Minimum of 8+ years of experience in BI engineering, data architecture, or enterprise data roles.
• Demonstrated experience leading BI initiatives and shaping enterprise data strategy.
• Proven experience mentoring and developing technical teams.
• Hands-on experience developing and supporting data pipelines and data ingestion frameworks.
• Experience working with modern BI platforms, cloud data technologies, and analytics tools such as Tableau/Power BI.
• Financial institution and member/customer research experience desired.

Work Arrangement

The working arrangement for this position is hybrid or remote. Hybrid work is an opportunity to find the right balance between working in the office and remotely, especially if it supports individual success and the needs of our organization. Hybrid schedules are determined by the hiring manager based on business unit needs and may vary by department. Although a remote work arrangement may be authorized, those working in a remote position should expect occasional travel to headquarters or other business locations as necessary for work purposes.
