About the role
Warehouse Operations is responsible for performing and controlling manual or automated tasks necessary for the receipt, storage, and shipment of product. This includes functions such as receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storage, and delivery. The role ensures the efficient flow of products from receipt to shipment for internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
- Works closely with management to maintain receiving standards and ensure proper processes are followed
- Supports the supervisor in leading the team’s efforts to adhere to all government (OSHA, DEA, SBOP, FDA) regulations, as well as safety, security, and cleanliness standards in the warehouse
- Ensures Cardinal Health’s principles, policies, and procedures are consistently practiced
- Coordinates workflow to accomplish business objectives, including on-time and accurate picking, packing, shipping, cycle counts, returns, and clean-up
- Performs functional tasks (e.g., stocking, labeling totes) as needed
- Handles general employee inquiries and resolves problems
- Maintains positive employee relations, promotes a team environment, and facilitates process improvement
- Works closely with other leads and supervisors to promote teamwork
- Plans daily workload and assignments
- Leads safety and quality discussions while maintaining productivity
- Applies extensive knowledge of company policies to complete a wide range of assignments
- Demonstrates expert understanding of job responsibilities and provides technical guidance or training to others
- Takes the lead in applying new processes and skills
- Works on complex problems requiring independent action and initiative
- Makes recommendations for new or revised processes and assists in implementation
- Adheres to all quality and safety guidelines with minimal supervision
- Provides guidance to less experienced team members and may have team leader responsibilities
Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and follow-up skills
- 4+ years of experience preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Good written communication skills
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Previous material handling equipment (MHE) experience preferred
- Experience with radio frequency (RF) scanners
- Ability to consistently lift 50 lbs and perform bending, reaching, stooping, lifting, and standing for an entire shift of 8+ hours
- Able and willing to work in refrigerated environments (36°F–42°F) for up to 8+ hours
- Must be able to work overtime with little or no advance notice
- Willingness to learn to operate material handling equipment and rotate into various warehouse areas
- Ability to work at heights up to 25 feet consistently
- Adherence to site safety regulations, including wearing required personal protective equipment (e.g., steel-toed safety shoes, safety harness)
- Aptitude to work in a fast-paced distribution environment while meeting hourly quotas and performance standards
- Self-motivated with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment with limited supervision
- Ability to comprehend and accurately process paperwork in accordance with policies and procedures
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and general computer skills
- Flexibility, adaptability, and good multi-tasking skills
