About the role
The Lead Application Administrator oversees the application administration function, driving strategic initiatives, standardizing configurations, and ensuring scalability and security across platforms.
Responsibilities
- Develop, standardize, document, and hold other administrators to account for best practices and operating procedures
- Oversee the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of product-related systems and applications
- Proactively implement systems and processes ensuring applications operate within expected SLAs for performance, availability, and security
- Provide user training, documentation, and change management support to improve adoption and system usage
- Foster relationships with key business partners to identify pain points, validate concerns through audits, and assess impact
- Collaborate with product vendors, project managers and development teams to implement system enhancements and new features
- Identify opportunities to improve system performance and efficiency
- Analyze feedback from users and stakeholders to drive system improvements
- Design and implement automation for routine administrative tasks and workflows
- Manage the integration of product systems with other enterprise applications, ensuring seamless data flow via API’s and automation tools
- Partner with QA, Integration, Release Management, and other IT functions to advance maturity of associated processes
- Lead system upgrades, migrations, enhancements, and new feature deployments while ensuring minimal downtime
- Advise business and technology stakeholders on application configuration optionality relative to expected project outcomes
- Communicate technical issues in business terms and provide status updates with contingency options
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional IT experience, including 7+ years supporting enterprise workforce and HR systems in complex, multi-site environments
- Workday Platform Administrator or equivalent certification to support experience in other Workforce platforms
- Hands-on administration and configuration experience with Workforce Management platforms such as Kronos (UKG) or Workday, including Time & Attendance, Scheduling, Absence Management, and Labor Management modules
- Responsible for day-to-day system administration, including security role configuration, pay rule maintenance, accrual updates, business structure changes, and system parameter management
- Deep knowledge of SaaS and on-prem application architecture and security
- Experience supporting payroll integrations, ensuring accurate time capture, overtime calculations, holiday rules, shift differentials, and compliance with federal and state labor regulations
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting integrations and data flows, including inbound/outbound interfaces between WFM systems and ERP platforms (e.g., Oracle EBS, SAP) using middleware tools such as Informatica, APIs, or flat file transfers
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, resolving timecard discrepancies, integration failures, scheduling conflicts, and reporting inaccuracies
- End to end functional knowledge of procurement, invoicing, and expense management workflows
