Lead Anesthesia Technician Full Time Days
Job Description
Reviews daily schedule to make assignments based on patient acuity and technician skill level. Informs the appropriate nurse of requests, problems, or concerns relating to the patient or perioperative environment. Provides for the patients’ needs based on diagnosis, age, and cultural background, including patients of all ages from newborns to geriatric population. Assists anesthesiologist in setting up and securing intravenous and/or intra-arterial lines and pressure transducers. Applies basic monitoring and assesses proper functioning of ECG, pulse oximeter, blood pressure cuff, temperature probes, ETCO2 monitor, and PNS monitors. Assembles IV, spinal, and epidural equipment, and delivers equipment and supplies for out-of-department procedures. Removes soiled instrumentation from the OR or perioperative area and transports to Central Sterile Processing decontamination area.
Responsibilities
- Develops staffing schedule for anesthesia technicians, ensures daily assignments align with approved staffing ratios.
- Provides anesthesia supplies and equipment appropriate for the scheduled case, excluding medications.
- Calibrates, troubleshoots, and provides routine maintenance and care of anesthesia equipment.
- Maintains PAR levels for anesthesia-related supplies in all perioperative areas and assists with inventory control of anesthesia products.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient and staff information, reviews hospital safety programs, conforms to unit dress code, and utilizes time productively.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals.
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry.
- Knowledge and basic skills related to aseptic/sterile technique and sterility of supplies.
- Detailed technical knowledge and ability to troubleshoot anesthesia delivery system, scavenger system, gas analyzer, EKG, pulse oximeter, and any other anesthesia related equipment.
- Ability to lead employees in the delivery of patient care within their specialty area.
- Ability to lead performance improvement initiatives on the assigned unit.
- Education: High School Grad or Equiv [Required]. Technical/Vocational School [Preferred]. Field Of Study N/A.
- Work Experience: 2+ experience [Preferred].
