Lead Anesthesia Technician

About the role

This position is responsible for assisting the Anesthesiologist in all departments and with all anesthesia procedures, including expediting patient flow through the perioperative area, maintaining patient safety, developing and maintaining external (patient, surgeon) and internal (Anesthesiologist, staff) customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Expediting patient flow through the perioperative area.
• Maintaining patient safety.
• Evaluating and monitoring patients during the perioperative phase.
• Assisting the Anesthesiologist with set up, operation, and some maintenance of specialized equipment, including life support.
• Assisting in sterile or isolation areas.
• Participating in "call" rotation for continuous Perioperative Support Technologists (PST) at night, on weekends, and holidays.
• Acting as a resource person for other employees.
• Communicating instructions to other employees, performing minor scheduling, and inspecting work to separate acceptable work from unacceptable.
• Serving as a contact person in the absence of a supervisor or director.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Medical or Science based secondary education.
• Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification within 90 days of hire.
• National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.
• 1 year experience working in a similar capacity in an Anesthesia Department in a tertiary healthcare facility.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited program i.e. EMT, Paramedic, RT, or Anesthesia Technology (AT) program.
• ACLS Provider - American Heart Association upon hire.
• PALS Provider - American Heart Association upon hire.
• Anesthesia Technician certification (ASATT) upon hire.
