Job Overview
The Lead Accounts Specialist supports the Hospice of Cincinnati Business Office Manager by providing day-to-day operational oversight, staff guidance, hands-on training, payer expertise, AR follow-up support, and accountability monitoring for assigned revenue cycle functions. This role extends beyond individual account work and requires proactive leadership, timely escalation of concerns, productivity and quality monitoring, and consistent follow-through to ensure accounts are worked accurately, timely, and in alignment with payer requirements and departmental expectations.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the assigned work area by monitoring daily activity, identifying gaps, and following issues through resolution.
- Serve as the first point of support for Hospice of Cincinnati staff questions related to payer follow-up, billing requirements, account resolution, Epic workflows, denials, collections, and account prioritization. Also provide any staff training and education as needed.
- Lead by example by maintaining strong personal productivity, quality, professionalism, attendance, communication, and adherence to department expectations.
- Provide timely updates to the Hospice of Cincinnati Business Office Manager regarding staff performance concerns, workflow barriers, payer trends, unresolved accounts, and operational risks.
- Ensure staff understand expectations and work accounts according to departmental priorities, payer rules, and AR reduction goals.
- Address issues promptly and professionally to prevent repeated errors, delayed follow-up, or lack of accountability.
- Attend monthly payer meetings.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- 1 - 2 Years Experience Customer Service (Required)
- 2 - 3 years Billing and Follow Up experience (Required)
Qualifications
- Knowledge of revenue cycle operations, payer follow-up, billing requirements, denial resolution, collections, adjustments, and account documentation standards.
- Ability to review account activity, identify workflow gaps, and recommend appropriate next steps.
- Strong communication, coaching, problem-solving, organization, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to support staff professionally while maintaining accountability and department expectations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with departmental, payer, regulatory, and organizational requirements.

Full Time - 8am-4:30pm, Day Shift
