Position Summary

Phoenix Children's Core Laboratory is seeking an experienced Lead Medical Technologist to join our night shift team. This leadership role is ideal for a confident, independent laboratorian who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable serving as the primary point of contact for operational and technical issues during off-hours.

Position Duties

  • Assists in developing and maintaining related policies and guidelines;
  • Employs policies and procedures, regulatory guidelines, and professional standards to validate current practice requirements and support of overall organizational values and mission;
  • Provides leadership support and oversees work activities of assigned staff to ensure achievement of established goals, objectives, and outcomes;
  • Provides guidance, mentoring, and direction as appropriate for ongoing staff development;
  • Assists in creating and participating in staff training;
  • Maintains professional and technical competency through constantly pursuing knowledge and self-improvement by remaining apprised of current literature, practices, and new developments in the fields covered by medical technology;
  • Performs regular instrument maintenance in accordance with established instructions;
  • Identifies and troubleshoots malfunctions to ensure continuous proper and safe operations;
  • Understands and uses troubleshooting, validation, statistical, computer, and preventive maintenance techniques to ensure proper laboratory operation;
  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.

Position Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: At least two years of experience as Medical Lab Scientist or Technologist in field of specialization in clinical laboratory settings. Pediatric experience preferred.
  • Certification/License/Registry Requirements: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Technologist in field of specialization ASCP Certification or equivalent or substitutable specialized experience per PCH Laboratory leadership discretion.
