Position Summary
Phoenix Children's Core Laboratory is seeking an experienced Lead Medical Technologist to join our night shift team. This leadership role is ideal for a confident, independent laboratorian who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable serving as the primary point of contact for operational and technical issues during off-hours.
Position Duties
- Assists in developing and maintaining related policies and guidelines;
- Employs policies and procedures, regulatory guidelines, and professional standards to validate current practice requirements and support of overall organizational values and mission;
- Provides leadership support and oversees work activities of assigned staff to ensure achievement of established goals, objectives, and outcomes;
- Provides guidance, mentoring, and direction as appropriate for ongoing staff development;
- Assists in creating and participating in staff training;
- Maintains professional and technical competency through constantly pursuing knowledge and self-improvement by remaining apprised of current literature, practices, and new developments in the fields covered by medical technology;
- Performs regular instrument maintenance in accordance with established instructions;
- Identifies and troubleshoots malfunctions to ensure continuous proper and safe operations;
- Understands and uses troubleshooting, validation, statistical, computer, and preventive maintenance techniques to ensure proper laboratory operation;
- Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
Position Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: At least two years of experience as Medical Lab Scientist or Technologist in field of specialization in clinical laboratory settings. Pediatric experience preferred.
- Certification/License/Registry Requirements: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Technologist in field of specialization ASCP Certification or equivalent or substitutable specialized experience per PCH Laboratory leadership discretion.
