Position Summary
Phoenix Children’s is opening a new location in Gilbert and is seeking an evening shift Lead Medical Lab Scientist. This position is a 1.0 FTE, hourly, Monday – Friday, 4p-12:30a. The Lead will work closely with Lab Supervisors, train and mentor staff, assist in testing oversight, and perform bench work in all areas of the lab.
Position Duties
- Affords leadership support and oversees work activities of assigned staff to ensure achievement of established goals, objectives, and outcomes.
- Provides guidance, mentoring, and direction as appropriate for ongoing staff development.
- Assists in creating and participating in staff training.
- Maintains professional and technical competency through constant pursuit of knowledge and self-improvement.
- Performs regular instrument maintenance in accordance with established instructions.
- Identifies and troubleshoots malfunctions to ensure continuous proper and safe operations.
- Understands and uses troubleshooting, validation, statistical, computer, and preventive maintenance techniques to ensure proper laboratory operation.
Position Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: At least two years of experience as Medical Lab Scientist or Technologist in field of specialization in clinical laboratory settings. Pediatric experience preferred.
- Certification/License: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Technologist in field of specialization ASCP Certification or equivalent or substitutable specialized experience per PCH Laboratory leadership discretion.
