LC Public Affairs Intern

About the role

Provide support to the Public Affairs team in the areas of communications, internal relations, external relations, and government relations. This role offers hands-on experience across a variety of public affairs functions while helping support CITGO's engagement with employees, the community, media, and government stakeholders. Position available Spring 2027, Summer 2027, and Fall 2027.

Responsibilities

• Communications - assisting with writing for the employee newsletter and news releases while using AP style, photography, assisting with creative concepts, and media schedule planning
• Internal Relations - assisting with the coordination of internal events
• External Relations - assisting with the coordination of external events, participating in Partners in Education and TeamCITGO volunteer activities
• Government Relations - assisting with events with our local legislative delegation and elected official
• For the duration of this internship, the Intern will foster many professional relationships within the community including local media representatives and elected officials.

Requirements

• Full-time student enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Mass Communications or Marketing with at least 30 hours completed prior to start of co-op (Sophomore, Junior, or Senior)
• Overall GPA of 3.0 (Must provide proof of current GPA at time of hire to verify eligibility requirements are met)

Skills

• Basic working knowledge Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Strong interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills
• Valid drivers' license
