About the role
CITGO Petroleum Corporation seeks an Environmental Engineer to support our environmental compliance and remediation efforts. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in petroleum refining, chemical manufacturing, or environmental consulting, with a preference for eight years of experience.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough environmental assessments to identify potential environmental impacts associated with our operations, products, or services.
- Interpret and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and permits.
- Develop and implement strategies for remediation of contaminated sites, ensuring safe and effective cleanup technologies and procedures.
- Design and implement sustainability programs aimed at reducing carbon footprint, waste generation, and resource consumption.
- Monitor and manage air quality and water parameters, assessing impacts and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Oversee waste management practices, including recycling programs and hazardous waste disposal to minimize environmental impact.
- Prepare Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) for new projects, evaluating potential environmental effects and proposing mitigation measures.
- Lead environmental projects from inception through completion, coordinating with internal teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Analyze environmental data, prepare technical reports, and communicate findings to stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- Conduct risk assessments to evaluate environmental hazards and develop strategies to mitigate risk to human health and the environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, or other related engineering degree required; master’s degree in engineering field is preferred but not required.
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker's Identification Credential (TWIC)
Qualifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in environmental compliance, with a basic understanding of environmental regulations.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of federal and state regulations pertaining to CAA, CWA, RCRA, and/or CERCLA.
- Ability to manage project risks by understanding and following risk management procedures.
