Layout Engineer & GPS

Sehlhorst Equipment Services (SES), a fast-growing site development, excavation, and underground utility contractor established in 1985, is looking for an experienced Layout Engineer with strong GPS and surface modeling experience to support our civil construction projects. About The Role You'll provide field layout, GPS control, surface modeling, topographic mapping, and as-built documentation for site work, grading, underground utilities, and demolition projects. You'll work closely with foremen, project managers, and field crews to keep projects accurate and on track. What You'll Do Perform construction layout and staking for site work, grading, excavation, utilities, and demolitionEstablish and maintain jobsite control points, benchmarks, and GPS localizationsOperate GPS rover/base systems, total stations, and lasers to transfer plans to the fieldCreate surface models, topographic maps, and utility/surface as-builtsReview plans and drawings to catch discrepancies before work beginsCommunicate layout data clearly to field and office teams What You Bring 3–5 years of experience in construction layout, surveying, or field engineering (civil, site work, or utility construction preferred)Strong GPS and surface modeling experience. Topcon GPS/Total Station experience a plusAbility to read civil/utility drawings and construction plansHigh attention to detail and strong problem-solving skillsValid driver's license with a clean recordFamiliarity with Topcon Office, Carlson IntelliCAD, Pix4D, Agtek, or Bluebeam a plusDrone pilot license/mapping experience a plusAssociate's or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or Construction Management preferred, but equivalent field experience is welcome Why SES Competitive pay and a full benefits package: 401(k) with company match, paid holidays and PTO, medical/dental/vision, and disability and life insurance.
