Responsibilities
- Production & Field Application
- Maintain strict environmental and public safety practices, ensuring zero drift and protecting local coastal waterways and storm systems.
- Oversee the chemical storage area, ensuring exact inventory control, proper SDS logging, and organized, secure containment.
- Maintain daily communication with the Production Manager and the Branch Manager regarding active pest pressures, weed outbreaks, or turf stress.
- Safely operate company vehicles and application rigs (with or without utility trailers).
- Assist with seasonal branch priorities, including coastal storm cleanup, pine straw/mulch application cycles, and seasonal color enhancements.
- Horticulture & Agronomics
- Proactively observe, identify, and treat major weeds, diseases, and insect pests specific to warm-season turfgrasses (Bermuda, Zoysia, Centipede, and St. Augustine) and coastal ornamental plantings.
- Formulate and implement target-specific, cost-effective, and environmentally sound remedies in accordance with established Integrated Pest Management (IPM) frameworks.
- Mentor and educate standard landscape maintenance crews to identify localized turf stresses (such as take-all root rot, mole crickets, or chinch bugs) during routine service visits.
- Customer Service & Client Relations
- Act as a professional, knowledgeable point of contact on-site to address client questions, explain application safety intervals, and provide peace of mind to property managers and the general public.
- Regulatory & Accounting Compliance
- Maintain flawless, real-time Pesticide Application Records and site-specific Pest History Reports in strict accordance with NCDA&CS regulations.
- Complete daily timesheets, material tracking logs, and work orders accurately within the company software.
- Ability to obtain NC Pesticide Applicators License (Ground Applicator, Sub Class l turf and Ornamental) within 90 days of employment in this position.
- Ability to obtain other Pesticide specialty licenses.
- Ability to bend and stoop on a continual basis
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
- Ability to work around bees, poison ivy, pollen, thorns and other environmental risks
- Must be able to read and understand standard Pesticide Labeling and perform proper procedures for mixing
- Must adhere to Bland landscaping uniforms and present yourself in a clean and polite manner
- Must have valid NC Driver’s license and maintain a good driving record
- Must comply with Bland’s policies and procedures/demonstrate Bland’s commitment to excellence
- Able to pass a background check is required.
- Must have 1 + years experience in Horticultural Pest Management/IPM or the equivalent.
