About the role

As an Armed Patrol Driver at a government airport location, you will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, respond to security-related concerns, and provide exceptional customer service and communication.   • Wednesday: 06:30 AM - 03:00 PM
  • Thursday: 05:30 AM - 02:00 PM

Requirements

To be considered, all applicants must meet the following minimum criteria (NO EXCEPTIONS):

  • 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level)
  • Graduate of Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or Equivalent (must provide credentials upon applying)
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Law Enforcement Officer License
  • 22+ years of age
  • No felony convictions or convictions for abuse of a household member under Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C.922(g)(9))
  • No documented truthfulness infractions in violation of Giglio/Henthorn for federal impeachment proceedings

Qualifications

The following qualifications are required:

  • Completion of one of the following approved programs:
    • Certified State law enforcement recruit training
    • Certified County law enforcement recruit training
    • Federal law enforcement training
    • Programs approved by the Director
  • Must be able to supervise personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, other law enforcement agencies, and the public on matters relating to security disputes and complaints
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 21 years of age for armed roles
  • Valid driver’s license for driving positions

Other attributes that may enhance hiring consideration:

  • No record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental/emotional disorders which may interfere with performance of duties

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to travelers, visitors, employees, and airport partners while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols of airport terminals, parking areas, access points, perimeter areas, and other assigned locations to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate airport personnel and public agencies as directed
  • Monitor access to restricted areas, verify credentials and/or authorizations, and report suspicious activity, unattended property, or policy violations according to established procedures
  • Prepare clear, accurate reports and maintain required activity logs, incident documentation, and communications with Allied Universal supervision and site contacts
  • Provide a court appearance for citations issued on behalf of DOTA, with replacement staffing provided for required court proceedings
  • Exercise sound judgement and render immediate, appropriate decisions under stressful conditions
  • Demonstrate maturity in conduct, behavior, and attitude
  • Follow instructions, accept responsibility for actions, and maintain professional conduct
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English
  • Maintain courtesy in interpersonal relationships with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement, and security personnel

Physical Requirements

  • Mentally and emotionally capable of performing all duties required for assigned post/duties
  • Good physical health and fully capable of performing normal or emergency duties requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion, including:
    • Standing, walking, or patrolling for an entire shift
    • Climbing stairs and running
    • Self-defense
  • Ability to perform essential physical tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
    • Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. (e.g., fire extinguisher) for a designated distance
    • Assisting in the safe evacuation of individuals, including carrying a small child or providing support to persons with limited mobility
  • Subject to random drug screening
  • Ability to exercise physical force, if required, in the execution of official duties
  • Pass a security background check conducted by the DOTA pass and ID office
  • Well-groomed and neat in appearance as officially commissioned representatives of the State
  • Pass and complete a one-time physical examination within the past 6 months
  • Pass a 12-panel drug test and all future random drug testing
  • Correctable vision to 20/30 in each eye with normal color vision
  • Able to hear at a normal conversational level (hearing aid may be used)
