Summary of Position
Law and Motion Associate – Of Counsel (Remote) at Jackson Lewis, P.C. are exempt attorneys employed to exercise their legal judgment to handle motion work in connection with the litigation matters including demand letters, requests for records, and agency/administrative charges. Law and Motion Associate – Of Counsel (Remote) are a non-Principal track position. This role is available nationwide in any state in which Jackson Lewis maintains an office. The hours requirement for this role will be 1850.
Primary Duties
- Conducting legal research and drafting briefs/motions, including dispositive and discovery motions
- Draft trial motions and assist with preparing trial documents, including motions
- Research and draft appellate briefs
- Prepare mediation briefs
- Work with the firm’s Professional Development team in the delivery of work product to clients
Qualifications
- Must be admitted to the CA state bar and comply with all ethical requirements in the resident state, including being barred if required.
- Must be in good standing.
- Must have at least 4 years of experience (to be considered for an Associate role) handling California employment litigation.
- To be eligible for consideration for an Of Counsel level Remote role, you must generally have at least 9+ of relevant California experience and a demonstrated ability to operate in a first chair capacity.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required to handle large volumes of documents and work associated with each matter.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance competing demands and meet deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment.
- Exceptional communication skills and strong legal research and drafting.
- Ability to foster strong collaboration across Legal Support, Operations and Attorney teams.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
