About the Role
The Laundry Worker ensures clean linen is properly stocked and delivered to hospital floors in a timely manner, supporting the hospital's operational efficiency by maintaining a steady supply of clean linens for patient care and hospital functions.
Responsibilities
- Schedules and assigns linen deliveries throughout the hospital.
- Stocks linen carts for delivery to various hospital departments and floors, ensuring timely delivery to meet patient, medical staff, and operational needs.
- Collects soiled linens from patient rooms, departments, and common areas, following proper infection control protocols and ensuring secure transport.
- Monitors linen inventory levels, reports shortages, and assists in maintaining adequate stock levels of clean linens, towels, scrubs, and other hospital fabrics.
- Ensures clean linen is delivered promptly, with special attention to emergency or urgent requests.
- Inspects linens for cleanliness, damage, and stains before delivery, ensuring only acceptable items are distributed.
- Maintains accurate records of linen usage, collection, and distribution as required by hospital policy.
- Rotates and organizes linen stock to ensure older linens are used first and stored properly in a clean, accessible manner.
- Follows safety protocols and infection control guidelines when handling soiled and clean linens.
- Maintains laundry equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Requirements
- 0-2 years of experience in laundry or housekeeping in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy loads of linens (up to 50 pounds).
- Knowledge of infection control and safety practices related to handling hospital linen.
- Ability to operate laundry machines and equipment.
Skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good communication skills and ability to interact professionally with hospital staff.
