Laundry Worker

Position Summary

The Laundry Worker properly operates laundry equipment, is responsible for maintaining the physical cleanliness of laundry, and launders resident linens, blankets, towels, personal clothing, etc. This position sorts, folds and distributes linens, follows proper infection control procedures and performs other duties as directed.

Essential Job Functions

• Collects and sorts soiled linens.
• Disinfects soiled linen containers. All containers have lids on at all times.
• Treats stained articles with stain removing agents before or after washing as instructed.
• Operates washers and dryers using established formulas and following instructions for operation of machines.
• Washes according to special procedures to prevent contamination and spread of disease.
• Folds and distributes clean linens.
• Cleans and maintains washing and drying equipment.
• Informs supervisor of supplies and equipment needed for use in laundry.
• Separates soiled linens from clean linens and maintains proper storage of each.
• Has a basic understanding of infection control.
• Reports linen needs to supervisor or lead housekeeper.
• Has an understanding of chemical usage.
• Keeps records of laundry processed.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate.
• Experience: Experience in laundry activities and use of laundry supplies and equipment.

Compensation

Starting pay ranges from $18.15 per hour - $ 22.10 per hour. Factors such as scope, responsibilities, experience, education, job-related skills, internal equity, and market considerations may influence base pay.

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
