About the role
The Laundry Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring an adequate supply of laundry and linen for residents, patients, and staff members. This position requires a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Performs laundry functions, including collection, laundering, redistribution, and inventory management, following established procedures.
- Presses and irons garments as needed.
- Folds, counts, stacks, hangs, and distributes clean laundry, linen, garments, etc., to residents and linen closets daily or as instructed.
- Maintains an adequate supply of laundry and linen supplies in laundry closets to meet the needs of residents and staff members.
- Ensures compliance with quality assurance, infection control, and universal precaution practices during laundry procedures.
- Reports any damages or repairs needed to supervisor and participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Listens to and responds to the needs of residents and staff members while respecting their personal and property rights.
- Maintains accurate records using computers and other documentation in accordance with company standards and regulations.
Qualifications
- Tenth grade education required.
- A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One year of laundry experience preferred.
- On-the-job training provided.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Subject to working weekends, evenings, and holidays as scheduled.
- Exposure to various disease processes, falls, burns, odors, and cuts.
- Exposure to infectious waste, disease, conditions, and exposure to the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
- Subject to risk category for exposure to bloodborne diseases (I).
