Responsibilities
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
- Respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, regardless of business level or time of day.
- Operate all laundry and dry-cleaning machinery according to hotel standards, including washers, dryers, folders, ironing machines, and dry-cleaning equipment.
- Use equipment only as intended and maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and usage.
- Anticipate guest needs and maintain positive guest relations at all times.
- Be familiar with all hotel services, features, and local attractions to respond accurately to guest inquiries.
- Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of assigned work areas.
- Use cleaning chemicals according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.
- Adhere to all health department, sanitation, and safety regulations.
- Set up and organize work station with designated supplies and equipment; replenish as needed throughout the shift.
- Monitor chemical and water usage to maximize consumption efficiency.
- Separate soiled bed linens, terry, and food and beverage table linens; bundle and document amounts of each bundle.
- Sort stained or damaged items to determine status for rewash or discard; maintain a continuous inventory of discarded items.
- Remove debris from floors after each sorting.
- Weigh each bundle of soiled linen and load laundry machines with designated weights.
- Operate laundry machines, adding designated chemicals in specified amounts, times, and temperatures.
- Inspect cleanliness of washed articles and place them in clean carts.
- Transport washed linen to dryers and set dryers to designated times and temperatures.
- Remove articles from dryers when the cycle is complete and place them in clean linen carts.
- Operate folding and ironing machines, checking cleanliness and condition of articles; separate damaged or stained items.
- Fold clean articles and stack them by type and size for distribution.
- Issue clean table linens and service towels/rags to Food and Beverage personnel.
- Document and process guest requests for laundry, dry cleaning, and pressing of garments, hotel uniforms, and designated management garments.
- Operate dry-cleaning equipment using specified chemicals and process garments according to labels.
- Separate stained or damaged hotel uniforms to determine repair, re-cleaning, or discard status; maintain inventory of discarded uniforms.
- Maintain accurate poundage records of dry cleaning and laundry.
- Report faulty equipment, damaged garments/linen, shortages, maintenance needs, safety hazards, and problems to supervisor.
- Remove lint and debris from dryer filters and change filters as needed.
- Transport trash containers to dumpster, empty, and clean them accordingly.
- Adhere to recycling procedures.
- Break down and clean work areas and equipment using designated chemicals and supplies.
- Restock chemicals for the next shift as assigned.
Qualifications
- Fluency in English (verbal and written).
- Ability to count and perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and follow directions thoroughly.
- Clear thinking and problem-solving skills, remaining calm under pressure.
- Understanding of guest service needs.
- Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
Experience, Education, & Licensure
1 year of experience preferred.
Pay
Base pay start rate: $22.28 per hour.
