About the Role
The Laundry Attendant plays an integral role in maintaining our facility, ensuring a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for residents. This position is responsible for performing daily laundry activities and maintaining an adequate supply of linen to meet residents' needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily laundry functions and tasks as assigned, following established procedures.
- Sort soiled laundry, linen, and garments, including items requiring special stain removal or treatment.
- Wash, fold, count, stack, hang, and distribute clean laundry and linen, storing them in appropriate locations.
- Follow work and cleaning schedules as closely as practical.
- Coordinate laundry services with other departments when working in resident living areas.
- Adhere to established safety precautions when using equipment, supplies, and chemicals.
- Maintain assigned work areas in a clean, safe, and attractive manner.
- Mix chemicals, disinfectants, and cleaning solutions according to manufacturer instructions.
- Dispose of refuse and personal protective equipment following sanitation procedures.
- Maintain an adequate supply of laundry and linen supplies for daily tasks.
- Clean floors, including sweeping, dusting, and damp/wet mopping, with proper safety signage.
- Discard waste into proper containers and reline trash receptacles.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to make independent decisions and follow instructions.
- Tactful communication with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies.
- Capability to work with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset individuals.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with supervisors, team members, residents, and families.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must meet all applicable state and federal requirements for the position.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Potential exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals.
- Physical activities include lifting up to [xx] pounds, alternating between standing and sitting.
- Cognitive requirements: ability to execute tasks independently, express ideas clearly, and demonstrate general computer literacy.
- Environmental exposure to ambient room temperatures and lighting.
