Teach For America is a national nonprofit that offers a full-time, paid, two-year teaching opportunity for college seniors, graduate students, and early-career professionals who want high-stakes work, tangible early responsibility, and a first role that will genuinely shape where they go next. Through our two-year teaching corps, we place and support people who teach full-time in under-resourced public schools.

Responsibilities

  • Teach two years full-time in an under-resourced public school
  • Build genuine relationships with students and families — not just lesson plans
  • Learn to navigate the barriers kids face inside and outside the classroom
  • Sharpen your communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills through daily classroom leadership
  • Work alongside your school community to remove obstacles and open doors for students who need it most

Requirements

  • 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher
  • Bachelor’s degree (in any field of study)
  • Must be a citizen, national, or legal resident of the United States, EAD holder, or have DACA status
  • No background in education or teaching certification required—candidates from all majors and experience levels are encouraged to apply

  • Baseline stipend of $3,000–$6,500 to help with living expenses during summer training and essential upfront costs such as rent, transportation, or licensure exams — amount varies by region
  • Additional automatic $3,000 grant for Pell Grant recipients and those from low-income backgrounds who do not receive federal student aid
  • Additional need-based grants and interest-free loans available by application to all corps members
  • AmeriCorps benefits—including federal loan forbearance, interest accrual payments, and education awards—may be available depending on funding and program approval

Join Teach For America in any of our 40+ regions across the United States. Applicants choose their preferred location(s). Teaching opportunities span Pre-K to 12th grade and include a variety of core subjects. Please note: we do not offer remote or work-from-home full-time teaching positions.
