Lateral Firefighter / Paramedic

Responsibilities

• Perform fire suppression and fire prevention duties
• Assess and treat acutely ill and injured citizens
• Execute rescue procedures and operate emergency fire apparatus and medical equipment
• Conduct fire inspections and implement prevention programs
• Participate in Fire/EMS training, station and equipment maintenance
• Perform related work as required

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Professional Firefighter certification
• Ohio Paramedics certification
• Ability to drive on city insurance
• Willingness to continue education in firefighting and emergency medicine

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
• Write routine reports and correspondence
• Speak effectively before groups
• Apply mathematical concepts and interpret technical instructions
• Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions
• Communicate and interpret medical information to patients and healthcare professionals
• Understand written and oral instructions
• Demonstrate emotional stability and courage under stress
• Have good moral character and the ability to handle sensitive information
• Be familiar with the geography of Forest Park, water supply system, and fire suppression systems
